Although the exclusive role assignment was granted to the U of U with authority to offer a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy in 1972, the first class wasn’t admitted until 1999 due to lack of funding. The program is now housed within the College of Health, which is part of the Health Sciences Center of the University of Utah. The Board of Regents and the University of Utah Administration have designated the Occupational Therapy program as one of the programs with differential tuition for all students, meaning prospective OT students will pay a higher tuition than other students at the U of U. Resident students will pay approximately $53,500 throughout the entire process of earning their degree, while non-residents will pay approximately $109,000.
